Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America

Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) is the premier patient organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with asthma and allergies through education, advocacy and research. Founded in 1953, AAFA serves the more than 60 million Americans with asthma and allergic diseases. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., AAFA has a full-time professional staff and a national network of chapters and educational support groups to provide community-based programs and raise funds for asthma care and research.

The Foundation provides research grants in conjunction with the National Institutes of Health to help find the causes, a cure, or better treatments of asthma and allergies. AAFA’s sponsorship of research for over 20 years has allowed researchers to leverage an additional $20 million in asthma and allergy research funds, which has led to significant advances toward finding a cure for these diseases. This program is among AAFA’s highest priorities. AAFA is a trusted information source for patients, families, and caregivers to access information about asthma and allergy. Many of our programs support the needs of children and their caregivers. Through our website, we provide a gateway to program and services rich in scientific data and guidance for children, teens, and adults.
